Managing Stress as a New Parent

    Courage vs. Fear

Being a new Mom [or Dad] can be terrifying. You are suddenly responsible for another human being! Fear and stress often come together. Feelings of stress are generally rooted in a fear of an imagined physical or emotional threat and stress (not to mention hormones in the first year or so after childbirth) can contribute to negative feelings like depression and anxiety that in turn can contribute to fear-based thinking.

    Exercise and meditation

Exercise and meditation plus ways to find naps if you are not sleeping more than 5-6 hours each night – have the power to lower stress levels and reduce feelings of depression and anxiety, which may help you to act more positively and less reactive in the face of challenges.
