    Halloween Candy Still Hanging About in a Phantom Bowl or Cupboard?

    As Christmas peeks it’s festive eyes over the horizon…it suddenly dawns on you that in addition to gifts, turkey, stuffing, invites, Christmas cards and the usual holiday kerfuffle: you need to bake a l’il something to take your family and friends get-together up a wee notch.

    Noah and I found an opened (hmm) bag of Reeses Pieces minis in the kitchen cupboard and decided to create a fun cookie combo that I knew would be a conversational “aha” during our family Christmas get-together (we celebrated the first week of December, with my Mom, sister + family and brother, prior to leaving for Thailand!).

    Try These Delicious Conversational Cookies for the Christmas Goodies Table!

    Here’s the recipe:

    REESES PIECES CHIP COOKIES INGREDIENTS

    • 1 cup butter, softened
      1 cup white sugar or stevia or 1/2 cup maple syrup
      1 cup packed brown sugar
      2 eggs
      2 teaspoons vanilla extract
      3 cups all-purpose flour or coconut flour
      1 teaspoon baking soda
      2 teaspoons hot water
      1/2 teaspoon salt
      2 cups Reeses Pieces (whole or crushed)
      1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

    METHOD

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

    Cream together the butter, stevia (or  sugar) and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt.

    Stir in flour, Reeses pieces and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.

    Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
